On the outside, things might look fine. But something feels off.
AT HOME, THINGS FEEL MORE TENSE, MORE DISTANT, OR HARDER THAN THEY USED TO BE.
-
Your teen seems more withdrawn, irritable, or overwhelmed
-
Conversations turn into arguments or shut down quickly
-
You’re not always sure what’s going on, or how to help
-
You want to support them, but nothing seems to land the way you hope
It’s hard to know what to do, and you don’t want things to keep going this way. You want your teen to feel okay, and for things to feel more calm and connected at home again.
We’ve worked with many teens and families across Quebec who felt stuck in this same place, unsure how to move forward. Over time, teens begin to open up, feel more understood, and develop the tools they need, while parents feel more confident in how to support them and reconnect.
Teen years can be challenging, but ongoing anxiety, low mood, or withdrawal are not things your teen has to “just grow out of.”

Research shows that early support can significantly improve emotional wellbeing, coping skills, and long-term mental health outcomes.
There are structured, evidence-based ways to help teens better understand what they are feeling and learn how to manage it. Therapy gives them a space to open up, make sense of what is going on, and develop tools they can carry into adulthood.
When these challenges are left unaddressed, they can start to impact school, relationships, and self-esteem. With the right support, teens can feel more confident, more regulated, and better equipped to handle what they are going through.
Teen therapy helps teens better understand their emotions, build coping skills, and feel more confident, steady, and able to handle what they are going through.

Book a free 20-minute consultation to talk through what has been going on and see if it feels like a good fit. This is a chance to ask questions, share your concerns, and get a sense of how we work with teens.
If it feels right, we will schedule a first session and begin at a pace that feels comfortable for your teen. In sessions, we focus on helping teens understand what they are feeling and why, while building practical tools to manage it.
We create a space where they can open up without pressure, make sense of what is going on, and develop more confidence in how they handle challenges.
Over time, teens feel more regulated, more understood, and better able to navigate school, relationships, and day-to-day life.

What We Offer
TEEN THERAPY AT ALCOVE PSYCHOLOGY IS TAILORED TO EACH TEEN’S NEEDS, PERSONALITY, AND COMFORT LEVEL.
We draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and mindfulness-based strategies to help teens better understand what they are feeling and begin making meaningful changes over time.
Sessions focus on both insight and practical tools. This may include managing anxiety, navigating low mood, building self-esteem, and developing healthier ways to cope with stress, school pressure, and relationships. We also support teens in expressing themselves more clearly and building confidence in how they handle challenges.
We offer 50-minute individual sessions for teens (14+), available in person in Laval and virtually across Quebec. When appropriate, we involve parents in a way that supports the teen while still maintaining a safe and confidential space. Together, we will find a pace and structure that feels comfortable and effective.

How It Works
Getting started with teen therapy at Alcove Psychology is simple.
01
Step One
Book a free 20-minute consultation to talk through what has been going on and see if it feels like a good fit. This is a chance to ask questions, share your concerns, and understand how we would approach working with your teen.
02
Step Two
If it feels like a good fit, we will schedule a first session and begin at a pace that feels comfortable for your teen. From there, we focus on helping them open up, build coping skills, and feel more confident in how they handle what they are going through.

As therapy progresses, you may start to notice small but meaningful shifts.
Your teen begins to open up more, communicate more clearly, and feel less overwhelmed by what they are experiencing.
They start to understand themselves better and respond to challenges in ways that feel more manageable.
Over time, things at home can feel calmer and more connected.
Your teen feels more confident, more steady, and better able to handle school, relationships, and day-to-day stress.
You feel more at ease knowing they have the tools and support they need, and that things are moving in a better direction.

If Your Teen Isn’t Ready Yet
Not all teens are ready to start therapy right away and that is more common than you might think. We can work with you as a parent to help you better understand what is going on, improve communication, and feel more confident supporting your teen while creating the conditions for change at home.
